<p>trying to reprogramm a few sja2 i run into --mnclen not working at all for me.</p>
<p>when trying to use it was adamant that "--mnclen=2" is not a valid option and i should select 2 or 3.... something is buggy here.<br />then i patched the default from 2 to 3 to use the code and it tried writing a 2 digit mnc.</p>
<p>was this feature tested in batch mode?</p>

<p>since this is a testsetup i simply deleted the sms.db, but this should either error out properly or update the db file - the backtrace is not what i expect in any case.</p>

<p>the packages in the -latest feeds for (atleast) debian 10 are missing systemd scripts and config snippets.</p>
<p>the packages in -nightly have atleast systemd scripts, but no config snippets.<br />making sure /etc/osmocom is there and atleast a stub bankd_pcsc_slots.csv would help a lot.<br />change the default ip for the server-ip in bankd defaults to 127.0.0.1 instead of a 10.9.x.y default</p>

<p>in one the last few updates for pysim we broke python3.5 support</p>
<p>debian9 oldstable ships with 3.5.3 <br />also some libs are quite old, e.g. cmd2<br />the ones from backport are also too old.</p>
<p>using pip3 to install the most recent python packages fixes these lib issues. i think thats ok as a workaround for debian9 dependencies.</p>

<p>i tested limesdr usb today to validate the latest patches (proper tx power correlation <a class="issue tracker-2 status-3 priority-2 priority-default closed" title="Feature: generate tx-power correlation table values for different sdr boards (Resolved)" href="https://osmocom.org/issues/4583">#4583</a>)</p>
<p>the gain calculation is fine in general, but i get a bit less power than expected on 1800 now.<br />its 65dB txgain and -5.2dBm power output.... not sure if i measured wrong the last time or what has happened.<br />all the other values were as expected.</p>
<p>sadly i get a lot of phase-errors now, which i assume have to do with ramping being active by default now? from my pov one cannot do ramping at all with a limesdr hardware in general atm.</p>
<p>all the filters need to be recalibrated for every frequency, bandwidth and power setting. this generates rf noise and is only done once on powerup.<br />simply changing the gain is <em>not</em> not good enough on this hardware.</p>

<p>from my pov lime support is broken as long as there are <em>any</em> calls using LMS_SetGaindB and tx which are not combined with the full filter and calibration calls.</p>
<p>since those need to happen before streaming is enabled (afaik) this is difficult to do, and one would need to do a full 'ramp' on powerup, cache all the filter and calibration-values from the registers (basically set gain, bw, freq, then dump registers) and re-use these values lateron when a specific gain is requested.</p>

<p>currently the gain is calibrated to a board specific maximum value.</p>
<p>all attenuation changes happening after that do not start a new filter/gain calibration which means that lower levels/runtime settings max not have the same rf performance.</p>
<p>gain calibration is important for linearity and also takes care of things like i/q balance/dc offset.</p>
<p>since calibration can not happen while a stream is running on limesuite this would require doing a 'calibration table' on startup and caching the resulting register values to be set on runtime.</p>

LMS chip registers using LMS_ReadLMSReg() and LMS_WriteLMSReg()
functions. We can make you a list of registers that need to be
saved/loaded if you are going to implement calibration value cache for

<p>LimeSuite 19.01 does enforce the order functions are called more strictly now.</p>
<p>this results in failing filter calibrations which makes it not adhere to the envelope and generates a lot of phase noise.</p>
<p>i requested some help from lime, and started to reorder the function calls accordingly:</p>
<ul>
<li>setting the reference clock needs to happen before LMS_Init()</li>
<li>setting the filters and doing calibrations on the channels needs to happen after setting the freqency etc.</li>
</ul>
