Issue should be analyzed and fixed. I assign it to Holger as it seems he wrote the code around the line printing the issue in case he can easily provide with some more context.

Well long story short:
- While fixing the BTS polling mode I noticed trailing garbage and added the warning
- Nuran has proposed a fix (https://gerrit.osmocom.org/#/c/266/) but never bothered to fix the warning/testcase
- Harald has re-imported the patch (https://gerrit.osmocom.org/#/c/3258/)
So maybe fix the warning and the bug in Gerrit 3258?
