Description

One question that nobody has yet answered is whether it's possible to reliably transmit full-duplex 2MBps over usb isochronous transfers. So using any uC board with full-speed USB, this would be an interesting question to figure out. Small libusb program to set up the URBs and small firmware that sends at the target rates. Then do some other things on the same USB bus to see if there's any loss...

This question will determine if the SAM4S or ICE40 approach that uses full speed USB is viable from a USB bandwidth point of view.

might not be needed, as it has been pointed out some multi-channel Audio interfaces (24bit, 48 or even 96kHz) are in the same region.

Also, the USB spec contains a nice table about what's possible in terms of isochronous band-width and that goes up to 1.5 MBytes/s of net throughput, which is 5 times more than we need.
