Feature #1595
closedAddition of an Iu-CS interface
100%
Description
With an Iu-CS interface, we can attach 3G RAN such via a RNC or a HNB-GW. It would be the next logical step to the BSC/NITB split described in #1594.

An IuCS signalling link is complete on the sysmocom/iu branch.
3G Location Updating, Paging and SMS operations work,
with the limitation that 3G authentication depends on completion of #1592.
Work on 3G voice connections has not commenced yet.

To verify that this is still active: pending/waiting for:
- the IuPS code be merged to openbsc master,
- the 3G capable HLR/VLR (with the new FSM),
- implementation of 3G voice (signalling is complete)
When we merge IuCS to openbsc master, we will probably at first have the code
build either for 2G or 3G (using the --enable-iu configure switch). To have a
build with both 2G and 3G, we need a proper A-interface towards the BSC (#1594).

The '3G Voice' subtask was lingering open for some less important reasons for a long time,
and probably made sense while osmo-msc.git wasn't split off yet.
I woke up on it and have resolved it very recently, yet forgot about this parent task.

heh, I hope "Rejected" is just referring to openbsc.git :)
For the record, IuCS is added and functional in osmo-msc.git.

I guess I simply misread Rejected/Resolved, sorry.
