WHat seems to make a difference is to enable emergency calls in the cells. This way I was able to enter airplane mode and leave it several times and get a quick re-connect.
OsmoNITB - Bug #1725: iPhone6 network selection issue with GSM1900https://osmocom.org/issues/1725?journal_id=16392016-06-22T22:12:13Zlaforge

so what do we do about this? Assume this is all that relates to the issue and close the ticket? Or do you think it is worth to investigate further?
OsmoNITB - Bug #1725: iPhone6 network selection issue with GSM1900https://osmocom.org/issues/1725?journal_id=16712016-06-23T10:24:48Zzecke

The customer still has a ticket to "test" open. I would like to keep this one open until they did test. The main issue is that there is "state" involved.. both in the iPhone and the SIM card. This makes a/b testing a bit more involved.
OsmoNITB - Bug #1725: iPhone6 network selection issue with GSM1900https://osmocom.org/issues/1725?journal_id=17202016-07-01T13:10:18Zlaforge
