Apologies for large-ish pcap there, I guess I could have taken out the RTP.

Anyway, looking at the config while making this ticket, it become obvious that the 3rd call, (5th leg) is using a new E1 timeslot.

Changing osmo-bsc config so:

   timeslot 3
    phys_chan_config TCH/F
    hopping enabled 0
    e1 line 0 timeslot 6 sub-slot 1

(just choosing 6 at random)

results in:

And same message from the e1d:

20210426004433802 DE1D ERROR (I0:L0:T3) Timeslot already open, rejecting re-open without F_FORCE (ctl.c:380)

Changing osmo-bsc channel allocator to ascending causes the same error on the 2nd call, (3rd leg) as we only have two TS before moving E1 TS

It might be nice if somebody else would see if they can reproduce it?

Bizarre.. When I re-download and look at the osmo-bsc.cfg that I attached, I see the e1 timeslot assignments, plain and clear:

Also in the paste in your note, there is arfcn 883. So i think somehow what you are looking at is not my config.

sorry for that.

libosmo-abis: e1d.c:e1d_line_update()

iterates over all timeslots:
line 358:
for (ts=1; ts<line->num_ts; ts++)
...

osmo_e1dp_client_ts_open() seems to fail then on any TS already open?

Not yet sure if it's the complete solution, but this allows libosmo-abis to know the mode of the TS!

So now at least we don't close the fd in e1d_line_update()
