h1. OsmoDevCall
4
5 98 tnt
As [[OsmoDevCon]] could not be hosted in 2020 nor in 2021 due to the Corona virus outbreak, we started hosting an *Osmo* com *Dev* eloper *Call* format of online meetings within the Osmocom community (originally discussed in #4928).
6 1 laforge
7
The formant serves two major purposes:
8
9
# technical presentations about osmocom relevant topics - ideally current/recent developments
10
#* can be pre-recorded to avoid any problems with technical setup, streaming, ...
11 27 mschramm
#* should ideally have a Q+A session at their initial "airing" during one OsmoDevCall
12 5 laforge
# unstructured supplementary social event (USSE)
13 1 laforge
#* random chat in audio (optionally video)
14
#* not recorded, obviously
15
16 98 tnt
The recording of the technical presentation should then be permanently made available (like the presentations of our prior [[OsmoCon]] / [[OsmoDevCon]]). Right now there is no permanent location yet, but you can get recordings at https://people.osmocom.org/tnt/osmodevcall/ . They can also be found on https://media.ccc.de/c/osmodevcall

Not every OsmoDevCall would necessarily need the two parts, but I think it would be great if we can make that happen. We could also have e.g. a two-weekly schedule for the USSE and a monthly schedule for the technical presentation.

20
We'd need somebody to volunteer to "manage" the "broadcast" side of this, preferably somebody with at least some prior exposure to online events (like the c3voc).

41
There currently is no password or authentication, we try to welcome anyone. If this turns out to be a problem, we might lock it down in the future, let's hope that's not required.
