Usenet via NNTP¶
UseNet is a distributed, text messsage-based discussion forum network, similar in concept to what Fido, Z-Netz and other BBS networks did at the time. For more information see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet
UseNet in the pre-internet / pre-IP days was accessed via UUCP (which in turn runs over dial-up phone lines).
Later on, as IP access became more widespread, the NNTP protocol was used by newsreader client software to read and post in the network.

NNTP in Osmocom Retro-Networking¶
At the moment, we don't plan to run INN or any of the classic news server software packages. However, Synchronet BBS supports access to the BBS bulletin boards via NNTP.
