h1. V5 Access Multiplexers (Access Networks) 

 The so-called [[V5_Interface]] was specified by ETSI and ITU as a standardized, interoperable interface between the heart of a digital telephone switch and (possibly remote) access multiplexers.    The exchange side is called LE (Local Exchange) and the access multiplexer is called AN (Access Network).  

 The access and exchange sides    They are interconnected over an E1 (ISDN PRI) interface, speaking the protocol stack of the [[V5_Interface]] on one or multible 64k signalling channels, and carry subscriber circuits as 64k B-channels. intreface.
