V5 Access Multiplexers (Access Networks) The so-called [[V5_Interface]] was specified by ETSI and ITU as a standardized, interoperable interface between the heart of a digital telephone switch and (possibly remote) access multiplexers. The exchange side is called LE (Local Exchange) and the access multiplexer is called AN (Access Network).
