Arcnet

Arcnet is another ancient network technology that has mostly been forgotten about, like Token_Ring or FDDI.

As a token-passing system, contrary to Ethernet, it has deterministic upper bounds for the maximum latency of a packet traversing the network - which is why it was adopted in al ot of contemporary industrial automation/control equipment.

Arcnet chipsets

COM9026 / COM9032

Thisis one of the early dual-chip Arcnet solutions.
  • COM9026 is the controller IC
  • COM9032 is the transceiver

See COM9026_StandardMicrosystems.pdf and COM9032.pdf
